He has led the association since 2001, when he became CEO John was instrumental in leading AFSMI to join a network of associations focused on the technology services industry in March of last year, when he took on the role of executive director of AFSMI, Inc. John has made many important contributions to AFSMI over the years. He coined the term “Sbusiness” and was publisher of the Sbusiness Journal. John saw that the services industry needed a wider business scope and developed the Sbusiness concept, recognizing that the phases of services transitioning in organizations worldwide needed to be addressed, defined and grasped. The “Sbusiness” under his leadership became a worldwide much appreciated and respected beacon for the services industry outlook. Additionally, he established a secondary board of directors for EMEA in 2001 to address the needs of members in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and he created the President’s Club in 2004 to recognized key industry contributors. John has been quoted in Time Magazine and many other publications and is a frequent speaker on service topics around the world. At that time, Schoenewald became the executive director of AFSMI, Inc. and will remain in that position until his retirement at the beginning of May.
“On behalf of AFSMI, I want to express our deep appreciation to John for his leadership over many years”, said JB Wood, CEO and President of AFSMI. He has an incredible dedication to our members and he provided the critical vision that led to AFSMI becoming a part of our network of associations last year. While John will be leaving his operational role with AFSMI, we look forward to his ongoing participation in the AFSMI community for many years to come.
